Christian Corporate Worship is at the heart of the church's life and identity. We may do many useful things in the world, but if we do not worship God in Jesus Christ we are not the church. Barnwell Presbyterian Church gathers every Sunday morning for corporate worship at 10:30 a.m. The service begins with acts of praise, confession, the assurance of God's forgiveness in Jesus Christ, and the passing of the peace. Scripture lessons are read from the Old Testament, the Epistle, and the Gospel, and a sermon grounded in one or more of these texts is offered by the pastor. The congregation joins together in confessing our faith, usually in the words of the Apostles' Creed, Prayer for the church and the world, the offering of our gifts, hymns, and a blessing or benediction.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper (Eucharist) is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions throughout the year. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated as requested by those presenting their children for the sacrament or themselves in conjunction with their professions of faith.

We understand that not everyone comes to the church with the same level of religious experience. Some are  baptized in infancy or their youth and come with a lifetime of experience. Others may have been part of the church's life in earlier years and are returning to their church roots. Still others are not at all certain what they believe or even if they believe and come searching. Barnwell Presbyterian Church is a congregation who welcomes you wherever you may be in your faith journey--certain and sure, questioning and wondering, seeking reaffirmation and renewal. We invite you to come and grow with us in the love of God in Jesus Christ and in the fellowship of the Christian community.
